Custer - Kitchen

The challenge: This home is in the northwest corner of Whatcom county. It's location is unique because of the two streams that flow on either side of the property. Construction in this area required detailed negotiation and cooperation with municipal agencies.

The original kitchen/dining area was small, a rectangle to the side of the living room. The home owners wanted a larger, more open kitchen and dining area, with more working space and a family/guest friendly atmosphere.

Details:The new kitchen incorporates a lot more counter space and an island. The island contains not only work space, but stove top as well. The bar separates the kitchen from the dining space and the living room; a new door opens to the side porch. This door features a hidden screen - invisible in the winter and easily used in the warmer months. The skylight above the bar lets in natural light.
