Whole-house remodel updates Bellingham home from top to bottom

This Bellingham project was the whole-house remodel to beat all whole-house remodels.

Essentially, Hudson Remodeling’s crews renovated the entire house and yard, from top (new roof trusses) to bottom (new concrete foundation) and everything in between. All windows, doors and interior and exterior finishes were replaced. Hudson’s crews added a front porch and rear deck and completely rebuilt or renewed just about every item in the house, including almost all of the walls.

The end result is, essentially, a completely new home. Let’s take a look at some of the remodeling that was done on this Bellingham property:

Cabinetry and countertops: Hudson installed custom hardwood cabinetry throughout the kitchen, bathrooms, closets, laundry, office, living room and dining room. For the counters, the homeowner chose a beautiful white quartz for the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry. The continuity of finishes — even including the door hardware, faucets and light fixtures, which are black throughout — helps tie the entire home together.

Flooring: Most of the house received maple flooring, with tile installed in the bathrooms and entries.

Heating: Under the flooring, we installed a radiant floor heating system to provide even, consistent and lasting warmth throughout the house.

Plumbing and electrical: These systems were completely replaced as well, including new sewer piping in the yard, new water lines throughout the house, new on-demand water heater, new plumbing fixtures, new 200-amp electrical service, updated wiring throughout the home and hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Lighting: The house features recessed lighting throughout, which helps reduce visual clutter in the open floor plan. Where requested, Hudson added need-specific lighting, such as spot lighting for artwork, task lighting above the kitchen counters, pendant lighting over the kitchen island and reading lights on each side of the master bed.

In addition, the house is built to last: The walls, ceilings and floors are completely insulated, the siding is durable Hardy planking, and the roof features 50-year shingles.

From the very beginning, when we met with the homeowners to brainstorm a plan and then drafted complete plans to submit to the city, to the end, when we cleared off the last of the construction items and oversaw the beautiful new landscaping work, this Bellingham remodel was a project Hudson Remodeling was proud to have a hand in.
